Policy: Goals and Mission

Goals

  • To work with administrators, deans, and chairs to review and recommend policy changes throughout the sciences
  • To conduct historical investigation of gender diversity in each UM-Missoula science department
  • To develop careful, detailed plans for increasing gender diversity in each science department on the UM-Missoula campus
  • To work with the upper-level administration to review, revise, and promote the implementation of "family friendly" policies on the UM-Missoula campus

Mission Statement

Project PACE instituted a Campus-Wide Policy Committee (CWPC) of senior administrators and scientists to review departmental diversity reports as well as a campus-wide Task Force on Policy Development and Revision.  The Task Force assessed work-life policies and professional development opportunities for faculty and made a series of recommendations to the University President in December 2006.  Many of these recommendations have already been implemented, including the development of new policies concerning tenure-clock extension, reductions in FTE, and spousal/partner employment opportunities.

The University of Montana has new policies for tenure-clock extension, reduction in FTE, and spousal/partner employment opportunities. See the University's Faculty Work-Life Policies...
